Drive Media House Wins National Award at Filmapalooza 2017
And The Winner Is ...
Drive Media House is honored to announce that our 48 Hour Film, Lessons in Accidental Magic was the winner of the Best Make Up category at the 48 Hour Film Project Filmapalooza 2017 held this week in Seattle, WA.
Filmapalooza 2017 brought together 48 hour filmmakers from around the world for a crazy exciting week of screenings, parties, networking and fun. This year's Filmapalooza hosted over 300 filmmakers from all over the world in attendance. The four day event was filled with films, parties, workshops, and networking events, all set against the backdrop of the great music, food, arts and culture that make up Seattle. The week culminated in a special 'Best Of Filmapalooza 2017' screening the final night, where all of the global award winners from the 2016 tour were announced.
We had a blast making this film. It was awesome to see a group of nearly 40 highly talented people come together in a short amount of time to make something so fun and memorable. And the award is simply icing on the cake. The film had previously won 12 different awards in the Cincinnati 48 Hour Film Project, and we are so appreciative to be recognized on this larger stage.
Pro Tip for winning Best Makeup awards: You can never have too many unicorn horns.
More Festivals To Come
Drive Media House also just learned that our film has officially been selected to screen at the Nashville Film Festival!
Lessons in Accidental Magic is one of 186 shorts films selected for competition from the 4,246 films submitted. Of the selected films, 42 will make their World, North American or US Premieres. Winners in the Narrative, Animated and Documentary Shorts Competitions will qualify for consideration for the 2017 Academy Awards®, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.
So, fingers crossed.
